If you are like me then you are pretty particular about how smooth your web browsing experience is and with all the browsers available it can be tough to decide what to use.  Why bother using anything different than your good ‘ole trusty?   Well, if you’re not sure what’s best then a good start is to see how fast the browser performs on your computer.  A great way to do this is to run a Javascript benchmark test on the browser(s) in question.  I recently used a web application by Futuremark called Peacekeeper to do this.  It’s really a snap – it just runs a quick 5 minute test.  Keep in mind though that this test only measures javascript performance, so you will want to take things such as usability into consideration before jumping ship with all your bookmarks!
